What to read this holiday season?

I came here with a series of upcoming new Christmas-themed books to recommend and was lucky enough to receive advance reader copies.

First of all, which books are we talking about? Here is a quick overview:

  • Her Knotty List by Ari Wright releases 21/11
  • All I Want For Christmas Is The Hot Fireman Next Door releases 27/11 and the previous book in the interconnected series: All I Want For Christmas Is My Best Friend’s Older Brother (available now) by Rebecca Norinne Caudill.
  • Highland Hearts Holiday Bookshop by Tricia O’Malley releases 2/12
  • Ice & Sweet by Charlie Novak release date:  3/12.

So let’s start! In this article, we will talk about:

Her Knotty List by Ari Wright

First of all: this is an omegaverse, a why choose rom-com. Don’t know a thing about omegaverse? Not a problem! The book starts with a cheat sheet: all about omegaverse.

Emma Matthews was supposed to be on her honeymoon for the Christmas holiday.

Now, she’s driving a getaway car… up a mountain… in a snowstorm.

And while she might not miss the scientifically matched pack she left behind quite as much as she should, she misses her phone charger. Especially when she veers off course and drives into a snow bank.

But it’s okay! She’s fine! After all, a positive attitude is the most important thing a girl can have—especially when she wakes up in a cabin full of strange alphas… who think they’re her mates.

All four of them: one hot-shot hockey star, a teddy bear firefighter, the famously naked chef, and a grumpy mountain man with the world’s sweetest dog.

If they seem like an impossible combination, it’s because they are. Turns out, these guys aren’t just strangers to her—they’ve also never met each other. Now, they have to decide if they want to stay together and make her their omega or continue on their separate ways.

Emma has never been anyone’s first choice—and she knows it might take a Christmas miracle to work things out. But, lucky for her, she has a whole list of ideas…

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this novel from The Author Agency so that I can tell you all about it.

Check your triggers first! Although this is a fun rom-com, it includes some subjects that might be triggering for certain readers. Don’t worry though—the author has included a trigger-warning page at the beginning, so you won’t need to do heavy research, and I won’t spoil anything for you!

Sooo let’s dive into the particulars! How did I rate it? ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 stars! How spicy is it? Very, very spicy. What else an omegavere could be? This book has a lot of smut: heat-spikes, knotting, heat, and bonding…. You get the idea….

What else is in this Christmas rom-com? Some heavy stuff for sure, besides the already mentioned spice and funny situations.

“So we’re doing this, then? One bed? Booktok would go wild.”

All of our main characters have some baggage, but they talk about it! My main trope ick is miscommunication, so I always welcome it when the characters have good communication! They are healing together. The hurt/comfort trope is potent in this novel.

The harem pack is diverse in more than one way. I like it.

We shouldn’t forget about the lovely fur baby, a.k.a. McKinley the Bernese Mountain Dog. He is a very adorable character in this novel.

What did I like about this omegaverse? The dynamic between the characters, the funny moments. Also very enjoyable is the formatting of the book and the writing style.

Even though this is the fourth instalment of the MVP series, all the books can be read as standalones, however, there are cameos from previous books. I haven’t read any other novel in this universe and it was completely understandable and enjoyable.

If you are intrigued by this holiday omegaverse, don’t forget to grab your copy here.

Part 2 is coming soon with more recommendations.
