Three prominent book covers arranged in a row against a blurred background of other books. Left: 'Who Hears The Waters’ Call' by Sophia St Germain, featuring a couple looking at a ship on a lake amidst mountains. Center: 'Desperate Lies' by Rae Ryder, showing a man in a sharp suit and tie. Right: 'Hunted' by Elayna R. Gallea, depicting a sword surrounded by a wreath of flowers.

What is on my ARC list? — Part 2

Continuing with my ARC list — I have some good news! Since Part 1,  I’ve been a good girl and read 2 of my ARCs, and I’m currently on my third!

Let’s dive into my completed books, as they release are just around the corner.

Who Hears The Waters’ Call by SOPHIA ST GERMAIN

This is scheduled for release on the 22nd July.

Book one in the Zeal Of The North series.

Book overview

The eldest daughter of the chieftain of their village, Elvara Sweengard was brought up to do one thing: marry someone of equal rank to further her family’s rule. But when the ships in their village go quiet, and magic vanishes, the unthinkable is confirmed: her father and brother have been slaughtered on their way to the Hird—the king’s elite war academy—where her brother was to claim his mantle as the next chieftain.

Elvara is now the only thing standing between her people and extinction. She must take her brother’s empty seat at the academy and earn a rune from the gods to restore the magic they lost—but first, she must survive both the ruthless trials of the Hird and the other initiates vying for her place, all without her family’s tragedy being revealed.

As the trials begin, she soon learns that they are not the only dangers she faces. Enemies lurk both inside and outside the realm. She needs to decide who is friend and who is foe before it’s too late—something that becomes far more complicated when the battle bond meant to tie her to her childhood guard is compromised and she instead finds herself tethered to a six-foot-five Viking warrior who would sooner put an axe through her heart than see a crown on her head.

Sophia is running an indie bookstore pre-order campaign; more information here.

Desperate Lies by RAE RYDER

Release date is 7th July.

Book overview:

What if the best night of your life happened to be with your best friend’s dad?

Diana Marchetti

After twenty-one years under my father’s control, I’m finally breaking free. And that first night of freedom? I spend it at Delirium, the most exclusive sex club in London.

It’s masquerade night, and what could be more freeing than anonymous, mind-blowing sex with a handsome stranger? It’s the best I’ve ever had, with a man I’ll never forget.

But my freedom comes at a price.

My father throws me out and cuts me off. I have no choice but to move in with my best friend.

The only problem is, she doesn’t live alone.

The man she lives with?

Her dad. My secret one-night stand.

He has no idea who I am, and I’m determined to keep it that way.

But when tensions rise between us, I wonder if this is one secret I cannot keep.

Desperate Lies is a standalone, full-length, age-gap, best friend’s dad romance starring a billionaire male lead and a feisty younger heroine.

Hunted by ELAYNA R. GALLEA

Release date is also 7th July.

This is the second book in The Giving Chronicles, a planned trilogy; so before I can dive into it, I’m reading book 1, Given.

I’m merely at the 30% mark, but I’m captivated by it already.

Given overview:

She’s born to die. He lives to hunt.

Wren was born bearing a Mark on her forehead. She’s always known she would be Given to serve the gods in her twentieth year, and she’s eager to work for them since they keep the kingdom safe. That is until she sneaks into a Giving Ceremony and watches as her best friend is slaughtered in the name of the gods.

Horrified, Wren escapes her village under the cover of darkness. Her plan is simple: flee the kingdom and stay alive. Surviving is going well until she stumbles upon an injured, unconscious man in the woods. Unwilling to leave him to die, she heals him. Only, when he wakes, she realizes he’s a Hunter. And his prey?

Her.

Now, he’s in her debt. Inexplicably drawn to her and caught in a moral quandary, he gives her a gift: one day’s head start.

Marked Ones must be returned to the gods. It’s the law. And when the Hunter catches her, she’ll do whatever it takes to get away…

Given is the first book in The Giving Chronicles, a new slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, epic romantasy series from the author of Tethered and A Game of Love and Betrayal.

Given is available on Kindle Unlimited, and you can read it now.

That’s it for today. I’m coming back in a few days with the rest of my summer reading plans!
