On brownish, vintage background "Happy Father's Day!" text and three book mock ups from left to right: Trouble from Abroad, Daddy Detectives and Talk Dirty Cowboy.

Happy Father’s Day!

To celebrate Father’s Day, I came to recommend 3 books in which being a dad is at the forefront of the story. All three of the authors are on my auto-buy list, even though their styles are different.

Trouble From Abroad by Rachel Kellar

I highly recommend it if you’re in search of a steamy, age gap, single dad x nanny romance. Preston is the sweetest and doting dad, who can make you blush or melt you into a puddle. (More ways than one 😉)

Book overview:

Dr Preston Jett is older, grumpy, and my new boss, so he is probably the last man who should be helping me with my bedroom bucket list. Right?

When I accepted to be a babysitter for an emotionally broken doctor and nanny to his daughter, I thought it would be an easy gig.

New country, new job, new me.

Which is why I wrote the list. All the things I wanted to try in the bedroom, but had never been brave enough to ask for. As a curvy woman with more fantasies than confidence, I figured writing them down was safer than saying them out loud.

I planned on engaging a professional to help, but now, my new boss is standing in front of me, offering to be my “teacher”.

I should turn him down because who knows what chaos sleeping with my boss will cause. But every whispered word from his lips makes saying no feel impossible.

So I say yes.

I mean, how much trouble can I get into?

You can get it here. And read my full review here.

Daddy Detectives Episode 1: A Tyler and Ian Jamison Story by April Wilson

I was a big fan of Tyler and Ian way before this spin-off series started, so I was incredibly happy when we got the chance to follow them on this new adventure and witness them becoming dads.

Book overview:

New husbands. And now new fathers. This is the first instalment in a new series for private investigators Tyler and Ian Jamison. Our heroes are adjusting to life as a married couple and are now parents of newborn twins. While the guys are enjoying paternity leave, their administrative assistant, Kimi, comes to them with a personal emergency. While Tyler investigates the whereabouts of her missing roommate, Ian plays stay-at-home dad with their two-week-old twins. (This spin-off series is best enjoyed after reading Tyler and Ian’s original trilogy — Somebody to Love, Somebody to Hold, and Somebody to Cherish.)

  • Grumpy/sunshine
  • Age gap
  • Gay romance
  • Steamy
  • Hurt/comfort

Each episode in this series can be read standalone, but they’re better enjoyed in order to see how their marriage and parenting skills evolve.

Get it here.

Talk Dirty, Cowboy by Elle Thorpe

I originally fell in love with Elle’s work through this book, and after that, I went through a cowboy/bull-rider reading phase, but still, this book lives rent-free in my head and still makes me laugh whenever I remember Bowen and Paisley’s meet-cute.

Book overview:

Eight seconds to glory. One second to lose it all.

Bowen Barclay lived to ride bulls – until his single-minded focus cost his wife her life. Four years on, raising his son alone is the only thing he’s getting right. His rodeo career is going down in flames and instead of dating, he’s playing his kid’s video games.

Paisley Ackerly loves to sing. Loudly and offkey, but in the privacy of her rundown home, it’s only her children she’s torturing. Until her ten-year-old leaves his gaming console on, with a handsome cowboy still on the webcam, listening to every word.

Being accused of internet creepery isn’t the best way to meet a woman, but when an instant spark ignites between the two, it isn’t long before online chat spills over into real life dirty talk.

But while Paisley might love Bowen’s filthy mouth, when the pressures of his public career and her secret past explode, words won’t be enough to save them.

This single-parent romance brings the steam against a backdrop of professional bull riding, rodeo, and small-town cowboys.
