Immortal Hunters is a collection of five dark romantasy standalones from five different authors. These unconnected books share a theme and can be read in any order.
Have you heard of them?
I have the privilege of ARC reading a few of them, and let me tell you, it was worth the time. All of them are incredible stories on their own. The last instalment, Hunted By The Fae King’s Shadow, is releasing today.
In this collection are:
Hunted By The Demon’s Vow by A.N. Caudle
Hunted By The Dragon Shifter by Courtney Whims
Hunted By The Dead King by Mallory Benjamin
Hunted By The Fae Duke by Kris K. Haines
Hunted By The Fae King’s Shadow by Shaylin Gandhi
Hunted By The Demon’s Vow by A.N. Caudle
A human woman is chosen as a sacrifice to be hunted by demons on an island where few survive, but unbeknownst to her, her brother’s best friend is one of those masked demons, and while he made a vow to protect her, the darkness within him craves to ruin her.
Disclaimer: This is the only one I haven’t started yet, as it is on my Mojo Dojo Book Club schedule for July.
Tropes
Brother’s Best Friend
Masked MMC

Hunted By The Dragon Shifter by Courtney Whims
Thirty women compete for the hand of the Dragon Land’s King, but things aren’t as they seem, as deadly trials aren’t their only concern—women are disappearing in the night.
My quick review: Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this book. It took me much longer to read than my usual time, but it might be that my head wasn’t in the right place rather than the writing. Because of this, I couldn’t become fully immersed in the story and often felt confused. However, I’ll read The Arterian series. Maybe I’ll gain a better understanding of the story and find proper closure. Although this is a prequel to the series and can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend following the suggested reading order for a better experience.
Tropes
Love triangles
Two FMC POVs
Memory loss
Competing to marry the King
Trials
Thriller/mystery vibes

Hunted By The Dead King by Mallory Benjamin
Dead or alive—he owns me. Magnolia didn’t realise the man standing by the river wasn’t human or that she’d just sold him her soul. Hunted by the Dead King is a dark Hercules retelling where bloodthirsty kings are more terrifying than dragons.
My quick review: This book completely consumed me! The characters and the plot pulled me right in and wouldn’t let go. It’s fast-paced but balanced. I also really loved the subtle found-family dynamic woven throughout. Ultimately, this book was exactly what I needed: deeply engaging, entertaining, and a perfect escape.
Tropes
Dark Hercules-inspired retelling
Forbidden mates
He falls first & harder
Dragon rider tournament
Owned by the devil
God-forged bonds
Betrayals & Secrets

Hunted By The Fae Duke by Kris K. Haines
A penniless wallflower swept into a deadly fae realm must charm three powerful dukes and hunt down a magical relic for a chance to become Queen. But if she can’t resist her bodyguard – a dangerously tempting knight – she may lose both her heart and the crown.
My quick review: I’m not really a big fan of the Regency era, but I truly enjoyed this book. It kept me on my toes all the way through the end, simply because I couldn’t see how the main conflict could be resolved. Besides the incredible plot, I liked the world-building and character development, especially Charlotte’s strength.
Tropes
Forbidden romance
Princess X Fae Knight (except she’s a 27-year-old outcast socialite and he’s a former pleasure dom)
Only one bathing chamber
“Use me”
Seduction practice
Feminine rage
Courtly intrigue during a very murder-y social season
BDSM + Biting + Butt stuff

Hunted By The Fae King’s Shadow by Shaylin Gandhi
Sariah is a good little princess who must find her way through the fae king’s maze to avoid marrying him. But someone is chasing her in the labyrinth, and the deeper she goes, the more she realises she may not be such a good little princess after all…
My quick review: I enjoyed this story. The character development of the FMC, Sariah, is phenomenal and well-appreciated, a vital point of the storyline. The entire concept is intriguing and well-executed. I loved the trials of the story and felt refreshed to read something unique. I can definitely recommend this book, as well as the entire Immortal Hunters series.
Tropes
Fated mates
She’s devout, he’s wicked
He has two forms
age gap (she’s 28, he’s 251, but he’s immature for his age)
